Welcome to West Norfolk Islamic Association

& Masjid Al-Noor

The Islamic Centre provides a range of services with programs that will draw children to engage themselves with the Centre's environment from an early period of their life.

The Islamic Centre is also a community centre where we offer our salah, meet and greet and are in touch with brothers and sisters. A place to interact and welcome. The Masjid-Islamic Centre is the focal point of a believer’s life. And those who help by giving time or financial donations are the ones whose reward is manifold.

Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah and do not follow not up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury― for them their reward is with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Al-Qur’an 2:262)

Yes! Ramadan is here, and it is the most awaited month for almost all Muslims!

It is commonly known for being the month of fasting and the month of giving. In short, Ramadan is a month if properly accomplished by a Muslim, will help to purify his/her soul and bring him/her closer to Allah (SWT).

The Qur’an also mentions on the eminence of Ramadan:-

“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Al Quran 2:185)

Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Power)

Ramadan is the month where the Holy Quran was sent down to the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) as a guidance to mankind. It was sent down on a day known as ' Laylatul Qadr' which falls on one of the odd nights of the Last 10 Days of Ramadan.

Good deeds performed in this one night are better than those performed over thousand months. With that, it is highly encouraged to increase devotion and prayer during these particular nights, in hope your prayers lie on The Night of Laylatul Qadr.

“Sayyidatina Aisha (r.a) reported: With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet (saw) used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work harder) and used to pray the whole night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers.” (Bukhari)

The Benefits of The Holy Month of Ramadan

Narrated Abu Huraira(r.a): The Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

”… whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari).

Rasulullah (saw) says:

”Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a hasanah (good deed) from it (i.e. his recitation), and the hasanah is multiplied by ten.

Ramadan not only purifies souls but also the physical body of the believers. Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan to atone for their previous sins, strengthen their Emaan (Faith) and become closer to Allah (SWT). They are encouraged not to waste their time in vain such as watching movies etc.

Through fasting, Ramadan teaches you self-control and paves the way to a healthy lifestyle. We are encouraged to walk in the shoes of the less fortunate and be thankful to Allah (SWT) for everything that we are blessed with.

Ramadan encourages families that held grudges along the year to forgive one another for the sake of Allah (SWT) and embrace each other with love. To gather, and reunite in the Oneness of Allah (SWT) during "Iftar" - a time of feast following the breaking of the Fast.

May Allah (SWT) help us to reach the Holy Month of Ramadan to let us benefit from its merits and blessings. Ameen.
